ChemDraw and Chem3D have several tools for predicting NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) spectra and IR (Infrared) spectra . This article will discuss the key features and methods for NMR and IR prediction. This article has an associated webinar that provides examples and has downloads of the molecules used, allowing a user to personally try out the NMR and IR predictions. This article is organized into the following topics:
ChemOffice is available free of charge thanks to contributions from the UC San Diego Chemistry Department and ITS Education team. Students and faculty can request access using their UCSD email address. UCSD Extension students are not eligible to access ChemOffice.
All USC faculty, staff, and currently registered students may download ChemDraw Professional software on USC owned and operated computers and laptops, as well as on personal computers for home use. Upgrades to ChemDraw Professional will also be provided during the term of this license agreement. Upon termination of the ChemDraw Professional agreement, all users of the software are obligated to uninstall the software. By downloading the software, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
After clicking the link below, you will enter your USC email address. Then you will be prompted to create a PerkinElmer account. This is a separate account, but you need to use your USC email address to register. Once you have finished registering, you will arrive at the download page. The license information will be emailed to you.
Q: Can I download multiple copies of ChemDraw Professional?A: Yes, as long as you are a current USC student, faculty, or staff, you may use ChemBioDraw on any (or all) of your personal computers and/or university owned computers. This includes both Windows and Mac operating systems.

The Purdue Libraries provide a campus-wide license for ChemOffice Professional (which includes ChemDraw). This means anyone at Purdue, whether faculty, staff, or student, can legally download their own personal copy of ChemOffice Professional and install it on their machine, at work and at home. Here are the steps for downloading and installing the latest software:

As a graduate student, I was first exposed to the software and its capabilities using ChemDraw Std 4.0 to incorporate chemical structures into papers and presentations. When I arrived at Millard South, I was pleased to see that a unit on introductory organic chemistry was included in the regular level chemistry curriculum. However, to my dismay, my fellow teachers had not yet invested in a copy of ChemDraw. One of my colleagues explained that they made hand-drawn documents, used Microsoft Paint, or downloaded "free" software packages from the Internet. I tried using these substandard methods with a great deal of frustration and finally convinced my department to purchase a copy of ChemDraw Std 8.0. They were amazed at the ease with which molecules were built. My fellow teachers were able to learn how to build basic molecules and insert them into a Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document in a matter of minutes. They commented that it was not only fast and easy to use, but the results looked so professional. My response was, "Of course they look professional, this is the software package that professionals use."
Version 1.0 of CEMHYD3D included three computer programs (statsimp.c, corrcalc.c, and corrxy2r.c) for analyzing a segmented image of a two-dimensional cement (powder) microstructure to obtain the necessary correlation files for the two-dimensional to three-dimensional conversion of cement particles to be described subsequently. These programs have not changed and are still available for downloading from the ftp site. For version 2.0 of CEMHYD3D, an online database of cement images was created that contains representative segmented images, along with the necessary particle size distribution (PSD) and phase correlation files for creating three-dimensional microstructures. The database contains links to the ftp locations from where the PSD and correlation files can be downloaded. The complete database is available at Between the release of version 2.0 in 2000 and the issue of the current release, the database has nearly doubled in size, going from 14 to 27 different cements, of varying chemical composition and PSD.
Users can search for software by product title, vendor, or a functionality category to determine which programs are available for them based on their role at the university. In order to purchase the software, users can put the program in a standard shopping cart, and payments can be made by credit card or department purchase order. Many items are available for immediate download.
Everyone at the University of Minnesota is welcome to use the above software. Click on the name of the software for further information. The above software may require a University of Minnesota Internet ID username and password to download it. If you are on campus and the software requires access to a license server, you'll need to use an Ethernet cable or the Wi-Fi "eduroam" to validate the software license; "Guest" won't work. The software may also require a University of Minnesota IP address to function. If you attempt to use the software while off-campus, you'll need to install the University of Minnesota VPN client. 2ff7e9595c
